About the author
Born in Wales, in the days before home computers, Simon Meredith is a primary school teacher working and living in Kent. As well as being a teacher and author, he is also the lead vocalist in the 50s Rock n Roll band, Slim Si & the Smokin Aces. When not writing, teaching or singing, he spends his time watching movies, listening to very heavy music (what his wife describes as shouty music) and reading comic books.

THE DAY OF THE SPIDER
The Chess Club are back...

There's a big movie-premier taking place in town for the release of The Day of the Spider, and guess whose got tickets? Absolutely right! It's thanks to James's dad and to say we were excited would be a bit of an understament!
But, we're about to go in and there's no sign of Leslie. No idea where she's got to. She said that she'd definitely be here.
The trailers make it seem like it's going to be amazing and the spider... Wow! I don't think I've ever seen such realistic special effects!
How do they do that?

The first hand-written draft is now finished!
There have been a few surprises though, such as where is Leslie? When writing I had no idea! I really like it when characters surprise me! I know I'm the one writing, but sometimes they just seem to do their own thing!

Over the Summer, Grimble will be getting a new cover with 'A Chess Club Novel' added and the style of the new cover will also then be carried forward to The Day of the Spider (to tie the Chess Club series together) and hopefully beyond. Can't say much about it, but if you've ever had a book signed by me then it might look a bit familiar!

So, The Day of the Spider... Can't really say what it's about - NO SPOILERS - BUT, if you love giant creatures, then you're going to love it! And B-Movies! If you don't know what a 1950s B-Movie creature Feature is, then you need to watch the following YouTube clips, because B-Movies are the best!
