About the author
Born in Wales, in the days before home computers, Simon Meredith is a primary school teacher working and living in Kent. As well as being a teacher and author, he is also the lead vocalist in the 50s Rock n Roll band, Slim Si & the Smokin Aces. When not writing, teaching or singing, he spends his time watching movies, listening to very heavy music (what his wife describes as shouty music) and reading comic books.

NEW RELEASE
In 1986, moving to Hawthorne was supposed to be a fresh start for Tessa's family, but she hated the place from the start. When she learns about the disasters, disappearances and the strange tale of a possible curse on the town, its a mystery that she can't let go of. As she learns of the past from Cassie, she realises that not only is the curse real, but it's something much darker and deeper than either of them had realised... and that the warning to Beware the Footprints, may be a warning that has come too late.

Grimble
First there was the creature...
Next there was the silence...
Then there was the end of the world...
Grimble is a thrilling adventure with mild horror elements suitable for children and older:
The arrival of a strange creature in his house during the Great Summer Storm is the only clue that the end of the world has begun. With only with the help of his friends in the Chess Club and a magic stick given to them by the old man they saved in the abandoned chip shop, the battle to prevent what has happened to countless worlds across countless dimensions has started. Led by the creature named Grimble, legions of creatures will devour everything; from objects, to sounds and memories, until there is nothing left. Packed with scares, adventure and the power of friendship, Grimble is a quick, cinematic read that's perfect for middle grade readers. Think Stranger Things in a sleepy English village, where friendship is the only key to defeating unsurmountable evil.

The Chess Club are back...

There's a big movie-premier taking place in town for the release of The Day of the Spider, and guess whose got tickets? Absolutely right! It's thanks to James's dad and to say we were excited would be a bit of an understament!
But, we're about to go in and there's no sign of Leslie. No idea where she's got to. She said that she'd definitely be here.
The trailers make it seem like it's going to be amazing and the spider... Wow! I don't think I've ever seen such realistic special effects!
How do they do that?

"Usually, weird stuff only happened to Alex. Like the time he claimed he was attacked by a giant squid in the boy’s bathroom and that was the reason why he was soaking wet from head to toe." -Grimble
